Key and Open Laboratory for Mariculture Ecology and Products Quality Safety, Ministry of Agriculture, P. R. C.


Based on the predominance of disciplines and objectives of the Outlines of National Middle and Long Term Science and Technology Development Plan, the main research work of KOLMEPQS focuses on developing key and common techniques to support sustainable development of marine aquaculture and carrying out related basic and applied researches.

Research Fields:
1. Ecological adjustment and environmental restoration in marine aquaculture;
2. Breeding & propagation and quality control for marine aquaculture;
3. Marine healthy aquaculture and facility aquaculture;
4. Quality safety control for marine cultured products.

Key Laboratory for Fishery Eco-Environment, Guangdong Province


In order to solve the key problems of fishery ecological environment of Guangdong province, to reinforce the applied fundamental researches and high & new technology studies on fishery ecology and environment in Guangdong, and to meet the needs of the latest development home and abroad, KLFE carries out basic, applied basic and applied researches on the fishery eco-environment, hydrobiological diversity, protection of rare aquatic organisms, impact and control of environmental pollution through integrated and newly developed techniques. In addition, it provides scientific support for beneficial circulation of the fishery ecological environment and sustainable development of fisheries resources and fishery production in Guangdong province.


Main Research Fields:
1. Fishery environmental capacity, pollution control and environment restoring techniques;
2. Impact of environmental pollution on the fishery resources and aquacultured species;
3. Monitoring and evaluation technique for fishery ecological environment;
4. Study on fishery biodiversity; protection rare and endangered aquatic organisms;
5. Study on the correlation between fishery environmental pollution and aquaculture diseases; prevention and cure techniques.



Key Laboratory of Fishery Germplasm Resources and Aquaculture Technology, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences


KLFGRAT originated from the aquaculture division founded by the famous aquatic biologists including Zhong Lin, Fei Hongnian and Liao Xianghua in 1950s at SCSFRI. After 50 years of development, it now comprises a series of research subjects such as propagation, aquaculture, fishery resources enhancement, germplasm resources and biotechnology, etc.

KLFGRAT combines modern international aquaculture science with the regional aquaculture characteristics of the tropical and subtropical areas, taking the advantages of high biodiversity and abundance of culture species in South China Sea area, and comprehensively applies multidisciplinary techniques to undertake studies of genetic diversity and germplasm resources conservation, selective breeding for genetic improvement, artificial propagation and enhancement, and integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) technology. KLFGRAT considers providing scientific and technological support for the sustainable development of aquaculture industry as well as building a new socialist countryside as fundamental missions.


South China Sea Fishery Ecological Environment Monitoring Center, Ministry of Agriculture


SCSFEEMC was established in 1985 and governed by Bureau of Fishery Management & Fishing Port Superintendence, Ministry of Agriculture, P.R.C., holding the First-Class Qualification Certificate for Fisheries Pollution Accidents Investigation and Authentication issued by the abovementioned bureau. The main research work of SCSFEEMC includes the routine, special and emergent monitoring of the fishery waters in South China Sea, the pollution accidents investigation and authentication, the impact evaluation of construction projects on fishery resources and fishery environment. Since the recent decades, the Ministry of Agriculture, P.R.C. has announced the project of "Monitoring on the Fishery Ecological Environment of the Important Fishery Waters in South China Sea"; SCSFEEMC has carried out the project and provided basic data for "China Fishery Ecological Environment Bulletin". Moreover, it has undertaken investigations of several fatal pollution accidents home and abroad, providing technical support for the conservation of China's fishery ecological environment and maintenance of the state's rights. SCSFEEMC has received many awards on great achievements of fishery ecological environment monitoring, which include the National Advanced Unit for Environmental Monitoring Network and the National Advanced Collective for Fishery Ecological Environment Monitoring.


At present, there are 15 research members, including 4 research professors, 3 associate research professors, in SCSFEEMC. They all hold the qualification certificates for fishery pollution accidents authentication issued by Bureau of Fishery Management & Fishing Port Superintendence, Ministry of Agriculture, P. R.C..


Fishery Environment and Aquatic Products Quality Supervision & Testing Center (Guangzhou), Ministry of Agriculture

Authorized by Agricultural Ministry, FEAPQST is a law-enforcement organization of products quality testing and agricultural quality technical supervision, which achieved the national metrology accreditation. It is also a non-commercial technical service organization, and was specified as a testing agency for the agricultural environment and products authentication by Agriculture Products Quality Security Center of Agriculture Ministry and Marine & Fishery Bureau of Guangdong Province in 2003.


General Responsibilities:
1. Supervision & testing of fishery environment and fishery products;
2. Routine monitoring, sampling inspection, quality census, quality authentication and market admittance of fishery products under the authorization of state or local governments and departments;
3. Arbitrations and commissions of survey, authentication and assessment of serious accidents and disputations of fishery products quality safety;
4. Development of new techniques of quality safety testing, risk assessment, and verification of national, local and industrial standards for agriculture;
5. Promotion of national and international communication, training, instruction, service and consultation of fishery products quality safety testing technologies; providing high-efficiency and high-quality service for governments and society based on the guidelines of "scientificness, fairness, efficiency, honesty and public service".


Prevention and Control Research Center of Mariculture Organism Diseases in South China Sea, Ministry of Agriculture


PCRCMOD is consisted of the central laboratory, middle-scale test plant, healthy seed selection and high-health culture techniques demonstration base. It is a state center for regional mariculture organism diseases prevention and control with tasks of researches of mariculture organism diseases prevention and control techniques, development and middle-scale tests of green fishery drugs and series products for healthy seed breeding and high-health culture techniques demonstration, and is responsible for the technical consultation, training, service, popularization and so on.



Research Centre for Black Tiger Shrimp Heredity and Breeding


The main research tasks of RCBTSHB are: conservation and utilization of germplasm resources of the black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon), variety selection and propagation, seed breeding and cultivation, and demonstration of new variety cultivation of the black tiger shrimp. With its focus on black tiger shrimp variety selection-breeding, RCBTSHB also conducts researches on new variety evaluation and standardization, seed-breeding technique evaluation and standardization, nutritional requirement and healthy cultivation of black tiger shrimp. In the meanwhile, RCBTSHB is also one of the technician training bases for prawn genetics and propagation, seed-breeding, healthy cultivation, nutrition, disease prevention and treatment.



Professional Skill Authentication Station of Special Type of Work, Labor and Social Guarantee Ministry

The station is authorized by National Labor and Social Guarantee Ministry and responsible for skill training and certification of aquaculture, disease prevention and control. Its goal is to train personnel with high or middle levels of skills and capacities for management of the modern aquaculture production and prepares them to be outstanding scientists and technicians for aquaculture.





South China Aquatic Products Processing and Quality Safety Research Center


The center undertakes the research tasks of processing of aquatic products and utilizations of fishery resources and aquatic products quality safety and standardization. The new technologies and new aquatic products were tested and improved in pilot workshop after being worked out in laboratory. Thus, the processing technology and security control mode are improved to be better popularized. As a personnel training base of aquatic processing and safety, the center has been attracting and training talented technicians and has developed into a center for international academic exchange.




The Key Field Scientific Experimental Station of South Sea Fishery Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture


According to the state policies of developing fishery science and technology, the station carries out long-term observations and innovative researches on national economy and aquatic products quality safety. The observation and research projects include: monitor and research of fishery resources in South China Sea, fishery bio-diversity, rare and endangered species, fishery ecological environment and aquatic products quality safety. The station is the only key field scientific experimental station in South China with typical tropic and semi-tropic characteristics, aiming to develop marine fishery resources and undertake bio-environmental researches. It provides original information, collects data of south sea fishery, carries out fishery scientific researches, promotes technical innovation and provides services for fishery production. The station has the ability to undertake the important state marine fishery research work and field observation tasks with excellent equipment and technology.



Branch of Fishery Resources, National Fishery Standards Committee


Under the approval of Standardization Administration of People's Republic of China, 190 National Specialty Standard Committees were established to meet the needs of the society for standardization of professions in the new era. Among the committees, the Secretariat Section of the Branch of Fishery Resource of National Fishery Standards Committee was set up in the institute.


The branch is responsible for making and amending national standards in the fields of fishery resources.
